Volunteers are the backbone of this charity.

RSPCA York, Harrogate and District Branch cannot function without the dedicated help of our volunteers who support our branch in a variety of ways and we are eternally grateful for all the support we are given.

If you are interested in volunteering, you’ll find our current volunteer vacancies below, along with details of how to join our prospective volunteer register.

Dog Walking Volunteers:-

We are very sorry but we currently have no vacancies for casual dog walkers. 


Events Assistants 

As a locally based individually registered charity we have to raise all our own funds to run the Branch. Throughout the year we run a variety of events which help raise funds for the Animal Home, some examples are as follows:

Bike Ride, Running events, Supermarket bag packs, Easter, Summer and Christmas Fairs, Race events, Coffee mornings, Galas, Stalls, Street Collections, Road shows.

These events are run in a variety of areas in our District such as York, Harrogate, Selby, Ripon and Wetherby.

We are looking for volunteers to help with planning, organising and helping at these events.  If you can spare an hour, half or full day please contact cath@rspca-yorkhome.org.uk  for further information.

Volunteer Coordinator Assistant (4-5 hours per week)

We are looking for a home-based volunteer (preferably in York Area) with Admin skills to assist our Volunteer Coordinator and Fundraising committee with a number of Admin tasks, planning and organising volunteer groups for our Events. Ideal skills will include Microsoft Office especially Excel, Facebook, email campaigns, good telephone manner and ability to work on own initiative. Education Officer (4 - 8 hours per month)

Do you have a passion to educate the next generation?
We are looking for confident speakers to visit schools in and around the Selby area to deliver our education programme to children aged 7-11. Our interactive workshop takes just over an hour to deliver. Experience with Powerpoint and own transport is essential

Volunteer Retail Assistants (flexible ½ -1 day per week) 

We have 3 Charity shops serving our District (Goodramgate York, Acomb, Selby) we are looking for volunteers to help in each of our shops to expand our existing teams. Retail experience, Customer Service Skills and ability to work within a team are ideal skills. If you are interested either call into one of our shops and meet our team or contact cath@rspca-yorkhome.org.uk for further information.

Can you sew? Do you have a sewing machine?

We are very lucky to receive lots of donations of quilts at our Animal Home, however we are seeking helpers who can collect some quilts from us, cut them into smaller sizes and sew the edging up then return to the Animal Home. We have a few helpers already doing a great job but still need more help. If you are able to help, please contact cath@rspca-yorkhome.org.uk for further information.

All Volunteers will be required to complete an application pack, a core Induction and online health and safety training modules.
